What is Members' Insurance Trust?
The South Carolina Medical Association established MIT in 1981 as a member benefit. Members' Insurance Trust is a health insurance plan for SCMA members, their families and staff. Since 1981, this self-insured plan has grown to include several different plans, including two that qualify for health savings accounts. With a range of deductible options from $300 to $5,000, there is a plan that will meet the needs of everyone.

Who is Eligible for MIT Plans?
There are three different sets of criteria that can qualify you for an MIT plan. They include:

1. Members of the South Carolina Medical Association.

2. A non-physician employee of a SCMA member, who is covered by this plan, who normally works at least 20 hours per week, or the minimum number of hours required by the employer if such minimum exceeds 20 hours per week.

3. A non-physician employee covered by this plan, who is employed by a SCMA member (who is covered by this plan), who retires after being covered by MIT the previous five years and who has attained the age of 55.

What Does the Plan Include?
Each plan includes a strong physician network through Preferred Blue, prescription options available through Express Scripts, as well as, $10,000 life insurance coverage through Lincoln Financial Group. Get started today!
